The Lower Kern

The Lower Kern provides an exhilarating whitewater adventure with fast turns, big drops, and some of the most thrilling class IV rapids found anywhere. This uncrowded stretch of the Kern is isolated in a high-walled canyon, making for a picturesque and exciting whitewater trip.

The Upper Kern

Located north of Lake Isabella in the scenic High Sierras, the Upper Kern River was designated Wild and Scenic by an Act of Congress in 1987. This part of the river includes several 3-6 mile stretches of whitewater with varying difficulties. The numerous dramatic drops and turbulent water of these stretches amply justify the Kern's reputation as one of the steepest runnable rivers in the West. Trips are non continuous, meaning you will be doing multiple runs on various sections of the river.
